Dr Morrey was educated in Melbourne, Victoria. He undertook an honours degree in science at the University of Melbourne graduating with 1st class honours in 1986. In 1987 he moved to Queensland to study medicine at the University of Queensland graduating in 1991. He then commenced specialist training on the Orthopaedic Program within Queensland graduating in 2000. Further specialist training was then undertaken in Bristol, UK and Lecco, Italy in 2001.
Dr Morrey regularly lectures at the AO Trauma Course held in Sydney each year.
Dr Morrey has been Director of the Orthopaedic Department at Cairns Base Hospital and continues his involvement as a visiting medical officer and actively participates in the training of orthopaedic registrars. The majority of his private practice surgery is conducted at Cairns Private Hospital.
